
The shale shaker is the first and most important machine in the solids-control train, and its performance is governed by one number that most engineers never actually measure: G-force. Not RPM, not Hz — G-force. This video explains why that distinction matters and what an unknown G-force is quietly costing you.
G-force is the acceleration the deck applies to move cuttings across the screen and throw fluid through it. Run too little and cuttings ride wet and slow, conveyance suffers and the deck floods; run too much and screens blind and wear out early. The right band depends on the shaker and the section — and you cannot manage it if you are only reading motor frequency.
